The Foundations Group for Impact Investing (FGII) launched in 2023 and exists to support foundations interested in starting or currently undertaking impact investing. This is achieved through convening foundations and charitable funders who are interested in starting or enhancing their impact investing activities. FGII focuses on the catalytic, concessionary, and often early-stage impact investing market.
The goal of FGII is to establish learning, best practice, and collegiate working to elevate the use of impact investment to create positive societal and environmental change. Events and activities are undertaken to educate foundations, and where appropriate, other impact investors.
This goal deeply resonated with us at the English Family Foundation and since the launch in 2023 our CEO Belinda Morrissey has been a proud member of the Advisory Board. This Board is made up of representatives from the over 50 member organisations, representing 100+ individuals and more than $10 billion in funds.
We believe that FGII plays a vital role in educating and convening philanthropic (and other) impact investors. We know from our social enterprise partners how difficult it can be to access impact investment in Australia and so initiatives like FGII provide a vital bridge between supply and demand. It opens up critical discussions on both sides which helps to reduce market fragmentation and inform better practices.
Membership is open to foundations and other charitable funders with their own investible assets. FGII is hosted by Philanthropy Australia.
